    Question

    Does it happen often..how often??

I don't want to get the kit if I'm going to have to worry about it.

Does this problem occur on higher boost/hotter applications, or are the intake manis just bad quality?

I am hoping that I can just get the kit, get some colder plugs, lower the timing a little, get a fuel pump, and tune the fuel a lil and get about 200hp at the wheels in my GSR. Is that too optimistic? It seems like you guys are buying a LOT of extras, which I don't want to invest in the future. I don't want to spend much more money into my car.

Hey Lee, welcome to the board.

Alot of the JRSC problems (cracked manifolds, bad FMU's, bad pullies) seem to have been fixed by JR about a year ago (my observation is that the guys who got their kit a year ago have been OK for the most part).

The extras are to get rid of detonation, and make your car faster than the 6psi kit. I've spent alot of cake on this stuff, as all the other guys on this board.

If you are searching for info, try this link: http://www.hostboard.com/cgi-bin/sea...tro&default=40

That will answer your questions quick. There are literally thousands of pages of stuff.

    Good luck!

    Chuck

Well, the reason behind the cracking of the intake manifold was that there was no support brace engineered into the kit until well after a year had passed. Those that got the kit right when it came out were the ones that had the problem, but JR did send out the new pressure switches and support braces when they came out, so if your manifold didn't crack then, chances are it won't do it now. There was just too much force on the intake manifold, with the supercharger mounted on the back before without any sort of bracing from below.

Yes, as stated above. Without the brace, tightening on the blower belt will try to pull the blower away from the intake manifold. I suspect that my manifold crack is due to running without a bracket for 9 months.
If the bracket is installed, you should have no problem.

So, if you could get a kit with a pump, MAP mod and all necessary upgrades at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE, would you be interested ???

If so, call me at (205) 854-8458.
